This Girassol ArtPlay program is designed for children ages 5 to 7. Art is central to this program, and all activities indoors and outside will foster appreciation for the natural world all around us.
DATES May 22 - August 14, 2023 8 a.m. - 1 p.m., with after-care available 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. Weekly sessions run consecutively, the first beginning on Monday, May 22, 2023, the last, on Monday, August 7, 2023. No classes on May 29 (Memorial Day), and July 3 and 4 (Independence Day Holiday).
APPLICATION AND ENROLLMENT Children may be enrolled in the full 12-week program or in one or more weekly sessions. After-care is optional. There is no application fee.
Before your child’s first day at Girassol’s Summer Program, you must submit a completed registration form and other required documents along with your child’s immunization record. The State of Alaska requires children in childcare centers to be up to date with immunizations. Girassol does not accept waivers for religious or personal reasons.

FEES AND PAYMENT $200/week, 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. ($180 siblings enrolled in this program). NOTE: The week of May 30 - June 2 is $160. The week of July 5-7 is $120. After-care, 1 – 4 p.m., $15/day (no discount for siblings).
Payment is required a month in advance for monthly enrollment; otherwise, a week in advance. Advance payments are not refunded if you withdraw your child from the program or if your child registers but does not attend at all.
LUNCH AND SNACKS You are required to provide your child’s lunch, water (in a reusable bottle), as well as snacks for morning and afternoon (if applicable). We encourage healthy eating and recommend fruits and vegetables for morning snacks; crackers, chips, etc., should be reserved for lunch.
OTHER PROVISIONS AND SUPPLIES Outdoor play is part of every day at Girassol. Children must wear shoes and clothing appropriate for the season. Your child should have one pair of indoor shoes and one pair of outdoor shoes. Your child will also need rain gear and boots. You must be sure that your child also has a change of clothing. These items should be packed into a large plastic bag or backpack with your child’s name on it. All shoes, boots, and clothing (including jackets, coats, hats, extra clothing) must be clearly labeled with your child’s first and last name.
